One of the modalities that are being explored in the context of the Global Forum in promoting
the development of research partnerships is that of seeking to facilitate Region-to-Region
interaction through their respective Regional Fora. One of the pilot projects that is being
carried out is between the European Forum on Agricultural Research (EFARD) and
AARINENA in West Asia and North Africa (WANA). This process is being carried out
through successive interactions that are taking place between these two regional fora in
Washington (October 1999), Portugal (February 2000), Beirut (March 2000) and finally
GFAR-2000 (May 2000). After the meeting that took place in ICW-99 on cooperation in
ARD between Europe and West Asia and North Africa (WANA) that was promoted by
AGROPOLIS, GFAR (through the NARS Secretariat) has been supporting AARINENA in
an effort to operationalize its Regional Strategy for Cooperation in ARD...
