In addition, the FAO Director General will nominate the Special Ambassadors for the International Year of Family Farming 2014, who will be entrusted with the mandate raising the profile of family farming and smallholder farming by focusing world attention on its significant role in alleviating hunger and poverty.

The Ceremony for the 33rd Observance of World Food Day, which this year coincides with the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will take place the same day, from 1:15 to 2 pm.
