GFAR is glad to present YPARD’s 2014 annual report. Grasp more about all the YPARD activities, on local, national, regional and global level and learn YPARD’s 5 key achievements for 2014.

Along 2014 GFAR invited seven YPARD members to bring their perspectives to regional meetings on better involvement of agricultural/rural communities in time of transition in the Mediterranean region. The meetings spanned Greece, Egypt and France. GFAR was impressed by the high quality of the contributions and insight provided by the participants.

“We found YPARD members interventions of particular importance both because they voiced the concerns of young agriculturalists and articulated alternate visions for the future of agriculture – indeed of society – that made us all reflect more deeply of where we wish to go and what is needed to arrive there.

This implies basic changes in thinking about society overall, and the actions of all of us individuals.” This is what Thomas Price, GFAR Senior Officer, Agricultural Innovation and Society said about delegations involvement in GFAR Mediterranean Dialogues.

In 2014 as the International Year of Family Farming (IYFF), GFAR in collaboration with Food Tank showcased two articles written by YPARD members to expand linkages and highlight youth input in agriculture. See GFAR: Why agriculture needs young people and GFAR: Farmers group approach boosts up small scale farming.

Robin Bourgeois, GFAR Senior Foresight Expert coached a YPARD foresight ambassador, Oluwabunmi Ajilore who contributed to a foresight workshop at the International Encounters on Family Farming and Research in June, 2014, in Montpellier, France.

Besides, GFAR sponsored the travel of Madan Poudel, YPARD former Web4knowledge intern to attend the CGIAR Technical Online Communicators training (TOCs 2014) workshop allowing both CGIAR and YPARD “build on each other’s strengths and capabilities.” (Peter Casier, CGIAR TOCs 2014 facilitator).

GFAR believes that youth, as key stakeholders in the future of AR4D, must be involved. This is why GFAR Secretariat hosts YPARD.
