Many of earth's natural resources are dwindling. New methods for sustained use of these resources and interdisciplinary research to develop them are needed - especially in countries that face rapid economic growth.

It supports German-Chinese research teams in their aim to realize joint research projects in Germany and China, especially those who include their younger scientists. The program is directed at research teams from both countries that are planning to work together on a
