I hails from a farming family in a tiny village Gudisagar in Navalagund taluk of Dharwad district, I took both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Agriculture at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad in first class with distinction. My Masters with a specialization in Agronomy involved research into Integrated Nutrient Management in a rainfed Sunflower and Pigeonpea Inter-cropping System, which conclude that the 50 per cent of inorganic fertilizers can be saved with the incorporation of poultry manure or vermicompost. From there I worked as a Project Coordinator at the Agriculture Research Education Extension and Development Society (AREEDS) in Shimoga, Karnataka for one year. My next position was as a Project Scientist at the Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC) in Bangalore from 2002 to 2006. During this time there I worked on several major watershed management schemes using the latest methods such as remote sensing, GIS and GPS in natural resources management. I returned to my education in 2004 with a Post Graduate diploma in Rural Development from the Indira Gandhi Open University of New Delhi. In 2006 I completed my Ph.D in Agronomy with the research on action plan preparation and impact assessment of watersheds using remote sensing and GIS technologies. The same year I began working at the UAS Dharwad as an Assistant Professor during this tenure I undertook a course on Crop Production to BSc (Agri) and BSc (Agril Mktg) students. Later in December 2006 I joined the Department of Environmental Studies as the Project Leader of the USAID-funded project on resource conservation technologies in agriculture. Later I worked at the Agro-Met Advisory Services Unit as a Technical Officer of the Directorate of Research, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. During this period I offered a course on Principles of Crop Production and Soil Fertility Management to BHSc students. In October, 2009 joined University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur as a Scientist (Agronomy) in AICRP on Sunflower wherein I am undertaking research on many aspects including precision agriculture, impact of climate change and its effect on important crops of Hyderabad Karnataka region, resource conservation technologies in crops and cropping systems etc. Apart from this, I also involved in teaching Agronomy courses like Modern concepts in crop production, principles of agronomy, field crops etc to both UG and PG students, and also involved actively in extension related works. Based on my Ph.D. research work I have been honored with the Indian Society of Agronomy (ISA) Best Ph.D. Thesis Award – 2006 and the Rahul Gandhi National Young Achievers Award – 2007.
