EnglishJohn Zoltner is Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of DataDyne.org, a Washington, DC-based social enterprise developing mobile technologies for international development, including EpiSurveyor - a mobile data collection and analysis application used by more than 3,000 people and organizations in more than 160 countries - and the Mobile Information Platform (MIP), an SMS text messaging platform used in a number of Latin American development projects, including DatAgro (below).John is also president of The Zoltner Consulting Group (ZCG), a Santiago-based social enterprise dedicated to the creation and implementation of initiatives involving the innovative use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in order to promote social inclusion, public health and human and economic development. John and his multi-disciplinary six-person staff work with public, non-governmental and private entities to design strategies, projects and methodologies that take advantage of the power of ICTs to empower individuals, organizations and communities. They also design, raise funds for and manage innovative development projects involving ICTs on the national and regional levels in the Americas. Current projects include: DatAgro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtaiQtNvzX4), a multiple award-winning project to increase the productivity of Chilean farmers by sending information via text messages, and InterConnection-Chile (http://chile.interconnection.org), a social enterprise that provides low-cost refurbished computers to low-income Chileans.John has been a member of the the Public Interest Registry's (PIR.ORG's) Advisory Council since 2008. Prior to his Santiago-based work, John served as the founding chair of the steering committee for the Telecenters of the Americas Partnership (TAP) (www.tele-centers.net), the largest network of telecenters in the world, and as Director of Strategy and Development for the Community Technology Centers’ Network (CTCNet) (www.ctcnet.org), a national network of more than 1,000 telecenters across the United States. John joined CTCNet after serving as the Director of Strategic Alliances & Communications for NPower of the Greater DC Region (www.npowergdcr.org) a technology service provider for nonprofits. Prior to his work at NPower, John held a variety of senior nonprofit management positions in the US. John holds both a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in Philosophy from Georgetown University (www.georgetown.edu) in Washington, DC, where he was an adjunct faculty member for the Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership (http://cpnl.georgetown.edu).
