) partners and the GODAN (www.godan.info
) partners are going to meet in a joint GODAN-CIARD Consultation on Open Agricultural Knowledge for Development, taking place in Rome between 22nd
The objectives of the consultation are:
- review progress, achievements and future prospects of all international initiatives related to open data and knowledge in agriculture, including especially CIARD and GODAN
- consider experiences of selected national systems and international/regional agencies in development of effective policies and practices in opening agricultural knowledge and data
- discuss and agree structure and governance for CIARD and GODAN
- define a programme of action for the next 2 years in relation to strengthening advocacy, policy frameworks and mandates, and institutional/human capacities.
For those who haven’t yet registered but are considering doing so, registrations will be open until Tuesday 15th April.
For those who cannot attend the event in person, the organising committee have attempted to overcome this through two main channels:
- The organizers will facilitate a three-week e-consultation which will start this Monday 14th April and end on Friday 2nd May i.e a week before, during and after the face to face meeting. The questions have been deliberately structured to mirror the content of the sessions at the face to face meeting so that your views will be fed in to discussion and decisions taken during and after the meeting. - For those on Twitter, during the three days of the meeting itself, the Twitter hashtag #ciardgodan will be the main channel of two-way communication. Official announcements will be posted from the official CIARD account, but anybody can tweet using the #ciardgodan hashtag. Sessions will be announced from the CIARD Twitter account inviting comments and questions. For most of the plenary sessions as well as some of the interest group meetings, we will also have live web-streaming, including through using Adobe Connect. We have appointed Social Media Coordinators for each session who will be responsible not only for tweeting about discussion taking place in the room, but also monitoring the various social media channels to ensure your comments and questions are fed back into the discussion.
