I am a livestock economist and I have been working at FAO for 3 years on global economic analysis of climate change and development issues.
I am currently focused on assessing the economics of management options for restoring degraded grasslands. I am also a member of the secretariat for the Global Agenda of Action (GAA) in support of sustainable livestock sector development (http://www.livestockdialogue.org) which focuses on the improvement of resource-use efficiency in the livestock sector to support livelihoods, long-term food security and economic growth while safeguarding other environmental and public health outcomes. It achieves this through consensus building among key stakeholders in the livestock sector for a subsequent operational phase. This conference will be very useful for making links between the GAA and GCARD initiatives.
