Dr Guido Gryseels holds a PhD in agricultural sciences. Dr Gryseels is currently Dir. General of the Royal Museum for Central Africa, Tervuren, Belgium. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Belgium’s Federal Science Policy and of the Fund for Scientific Research; he chairs the Jury that annually awards the Development Cooperation Prize. Dr Gryseels joined the ICARDA Board of Trustees in 2003 and was serving as a member of the Executive, Nomination and Program Committees before being Board Chair from 2006 to 2010. Earlier, he was Deputy Executive Secretary of the Technical Advisory Committee of the CGIAR, hosted by the UN Food & Agriculture Organization in Rome, Italy. He also held important positions in the CGIAR, including that of Executive Secretary of the CGIAR's Impact Assessment and Evaluation Group; he was Chair of the CGIAR Alliance Board in 2008 & 2009. From 1979 to 1987, he held various senior positions at the International Livestock Center for Africa, in Ethiopia.
