Research , teaching and extension activities on genetic resources and crop improvement of neglected and underutilized species (NUS) for the past 25 years. Implemented All India Coordianted Research Project on Underutilized Crops at National level in India and IFAD funded international research project on Neglected and Underutilized Species in the north western Himalayan region. Developed and released several improved crop varieties of small millets, pseudocereals, grain legumes etc. for general cultivation by small holder farmers. Involved in the seed production and development of value added food products. Popularization of the varities under organic cultivation through creation of self-help groups. Integration of NUS in eco-spiritual tourism by involving local people and their organizations. Currently invloved in characterization and evaluation of crop germplasm to facilitate their utilization in crop improvement programme having biotic and abiotic stress resistance and quality.
