GFAR is pleased to announce the appointment of our executive secretary, Dr Hildegard Lingnau, into CGIAR’s independent external high-level Advisory Panel.

The advisory panel’s mandate is to guide leadership and staff in strengthening their strategic engagement with countries and regional partners as CGIAR continues its transition to an integrated One CGIAR.

The global agrifood system is wasteful and damaging but there are steps we can take to tackle it

Supply chain disruptions, a pandemic, extreme weather and now a war in Ukraine have exposed faultlines in the global food system that we ignore at our peril. The crisis demands nothing less than a complete transformation of agrifood — one that involves diversifying the crops we grow, the way we grow them and how we transport them.

The World Bank seeks to recruit an Economist and a Research Analyst (for two separate Short-Term Consultant (STC) positions) to play a central role in supporting the World Bank’s policy advice to the Government of Indonesia (GOI) on its decentralization reform agenda. With the enactment of a new law on intergovernmental finance (UU HKPD) in January 2022, the GOI has embarked on a historical reform of its intergovermental finance system.

OVERALL PURPOSE

The objective of this assignment is to engage an individual who will provide strategic leadership and management to achieve FARA’s mission. He/she will develop and maintain strategic relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders (policymakers, National Agricultural Research and Extension Institutions, farmers, private sector, NGOs, universities, sub-regional organizations, CGIAR, development partners, etc.) that FARA partners with and relies on to achieve its goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. STRATEGIC DIRECTION AND INSTITUTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Prolinnova (a network of organisations around the globe working on documenting and supporting farmer-led innovations and their related processes initiated with GFAR's support) has partnered with the Global Forum on Agricultural Research & Innovation to conduct a survey to gather members’ perceptions about innovation. The objective of the survey is to better inform GFAR constituencies about the type of multistakeholder innovation processes and results that emerge when small-scale farmers take a leading role.
