The Forum for the Americas on Agricultural Research and Technology Development is a regional forum in which stakeholders from all sectors participate. Decisions are taken by its Executive Committee, formed by representatives of the following sectors: public, private, academic, NGOs, international research in the region, small farmers' organizations, young researchers, and women farmers. The Technical Secretariat is in charge of IICA (Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture), within the Innovation Program at Headquarters in Costa Rica. The Presidency is currently held by the President of Embrapa.
The Forum for the Americas on Agricultural Research and Technology Development (FORAGRO) is a space for discussion and agreement on the most important issues facing agriculture in the Americas and, along with other actors, it forms part of the Hemispheric Agrifood Technology and Innovation System. Over the years, FORAGRO has adapted to new global and hemispheric realities and challenges, strengthening its stakeholder base as well its relationship with the International Agricultural Research System, in the framework of the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR). FORAGRO's key roles are: Dialogue, articulation, facilitating alliances, advocacy, and consolidating the hemispheric innovation system. It has a web page, mainly for information on the forum, and an information system for agricultural innovation, called INFOTEC.
