A Farming Systems Agronomist with 35+ years of experience in designing and implementing rural development projects and natural resources management systems for food security programs, sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry systems, community-based natural resources management programs and projects, agricultural research and extension, agriculture and economic policy, agro-forestry, fish culture, agribusiness and value chain development, and project evaluations. Has participated on project design and evaluation teams for USAID and has prepared long-range planning and analytical studies. Over the last decade, I have been working with smallholder farmers and their common concern within their communities are the impacts of climate change on their farming systems. Mr. Fiebig served as the Rural Development Scientist with the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) on the National Cassava Program conducting multi-locational yield trials comparing new varieties from the National Institute of Agricultural Research (I.N.E.R.A.) breeding programs with traditional varieties. With Purdue University, Dr. Fiebig was the Senior Agronomist in agronomy/farming systems research and Deputy Chief of Party of the technical assistance team to the farming systems division of Burkina Faso's National Institute of Agricultural Research (I.N.E.R.A.). With Rodale Institute, Dr. Fiebig was the Technology Program Coordinator for the development of information management systems for sustainable agriculture and community-based natural resources management programs and projects in Africa through the DESFIL project. From January 1998 to August 2002, he was an Agricultural Officer (Seed Security) with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations based in Rome, Italy. In September 2002, he joined Save the Children Federation, Inc. (SC) based in Washington DC through September 2008 as the SCF Senior Technical Advisor for Agricultural Programs in the Food Security Unit. In January 2009, Dr. Fiebig joined International Relief and Development as a Senior Program Officer backstopping agricultural programs and projects worldwide. Dr. Fiebig is fluent in English (native), French and Kikongo (DR Congo).
