1. Position : Deputy Director

Tenure of service: April 2011 to Oct. 2012
Duties performed:
• Formulation, implementation and monitoring of Centrally Sponsored Scheme under National Horticulture Mission for the development of Spices, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Arecanut.
• Coordination with the development, research and marketing agencies of various departments of agriculture and horticulture of various States and Central Government.
• Implementation of Transfer of Technology Programmes such as National, State and District level Seminars, Workshops and Trainings etc.
• Assessment of crop situation, crop prospects, production and export demands were done. Surveys were also conducted for crop estimation in respect of Black Pepper in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
• Actively involved in the publishing of Indian Journal of Arecanut, Spices and Medicinal Plants as member of the Editorial Board.
• Farm extension literature published in Hindi, Malyalam and English, billingual display materials were prepared for wider publicity besides, Annual Report highlighing diverse activities was brought out.
• Producation and distribution of quality planting material of Black Pepper.
• Facilitated the participation of the Directorate in various International, National and State level exhibhitions, fairs etc.

• Studied the techno-economic feasibility of the horticultural development projects submitted to the Ministry of Horticulture, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, India.

• Supervised the operation of the Fruit Processing Plant involving selection of raw material and preparation, physico-chemical & organoleptic analysis of the processed products.

EXPERIENCE OUT OF INDIA
From November 2002 to July 2004, worked as Assistant Professor with the
Ministry of Education, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at Awassa College of
Agriculture, Debub University under UNDP Human Resource Development Project.
Duties performed: -

 Supervising and guiding students for their Senior Research projects and Dissertations.
 Preparation of the Course Curriculum and teaching material for the Postgraduate,Undergraduate, vocational education programmes.
 Conducted teaching, research and extension activities as per the mandate of the
University,.
 Establishment and running of pilot food processing plant.
 Establishment of demonstration cum laboratory facility.

EXPERIENCE IN INDIA

After getting appointment as Deputy Director on deputation through UPSC, New Delhi in the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India enriched experience in the following spheres:-

While working in the State Department of Horticulture, Himachal Pradesh I have been associated with diverse activities related to development of agriculture in general and horticulture in particular. Actively involved in the transfer of technology to the farmers and imparted latest technical know-how to them on various aspects of agriculture, horticulture and allied activities such as mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, flower cultivation, cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic plants, home scale preservation etc. Also participated as resource personnel in the various extension related activities organized by the H.P. State Council of Science, Technology and Environment, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP), H.P. State Entrepreneurship Development Council, H.P. Gyan Vigyan Samiti-cum-State Resource Centre etc. for socio-economic upliftment of the target groups such as Mahila Mandal, Self Help Groups, Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutes and rural masses.

Other duties performed included:-
• Studied techno-economic feasibility of the projects submitted to Ministry of
Horticulture, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh.
• Provided consultancy services to the entrepreneurs.
• Supervised the operations of Food Processing Plant and Quality Contorl Laboratory of the Department of Horticulture involving preparation, physico-chemical and organoleptic analysis of the processed food products.

Besides, technical bulletins in Hindi and English have been authored for the neo-
literate and general public and also authored research papers, popular articles etc. Technical talks on All India Radio and Doordarshan have been aired. Attended various International, National and State level workshops, seminars, trainings programmes.

After completing UNDP assignment as Assistant Professor in the Ministry of Education, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and deputation in the Union Ministry of Agriculture, GOI, joined back the parent department and since then; have been involved in the aforesaid developmental activities till date.
